jQuery
June 28th, 2010
Roughly 2 years ago i heard of jQuery, prototype and Mootools and a much smaller, ( now defunct ) framework called Tinyajax. I was not too terribly impressed but could see that they might have a future. Late in 2009 I attended a meetup at BrightMix. The theme was Using Jquery hosted by Jonathan Sharp ( Out West Media ). I blatantly asked in the early minutes of the meeting, “Why would I use this framework?” His answer was pretty simple, and I am paraphrasing but basically he said: Because, it just works. Its fast, versatile and does a lot of things very well.
I was impressed. This relatively young framework was blowing up ( in a good way ). That night, I dove in head first and never looked back. I started my quest to use this tool in my every day development. It turns out that was the best thing I could of done.
This javascript framework truly lives up to its tag line: write less, do more.
I will use this framework for a long time…thank you jquery.org for developing this and please continue.
